About
Open Quote Media was founded with a single purpose in mind: translating ideas, whether simple or complex, into compelling visual stories.
If you have a vision, a design, a message of any kind to get across, I can help you translate even the most basic concepts into an eye-catching narrative. From working with non-profit organizations to realize their vision on-screen, to bringing the right look to a product video for a business that is looking to expand their customer base, I work with individuals and organizations to define their goals and find creative ways to reach them.
Behind the Creative Vision
For more than 17 years, Matthew Mann has been working in the field of television and video production, beginning his career as a photojournalist, working on features, breaking news and sports in the Rochester area. After completing a Master of Fine Arts degree in documentary film at the Visual Studies Workshop, he went on to teach video production courses at several colleges in the Rochester area while beginning to develop a freelance production business.
In 2011, Matthew moved on from a ten year career as a photojournalist to take a newly created position producing videos at the University of Rochester office of communications. In seven years, viewership of the University YouTube channel went from a subscriber base of only a few hundred, growing to more than 10,000 subscribers, and 14 million views for videos on the channel. That video content has been part of packages that earned national and international media coverage and widespread attention on social media.
While continuing to develop a vision for the video content at the University of Rochester, Matthew has built relationships with new clients through Open Quote Media. With a wide ranging background in creative and technical areas of production, he has continued to work on documentary and features, sports, arts and music, industrial and product videos as well as research topics.
